This painting showed up on my dashboard and I was struck by how similar it looked to Danielle’s blue everyday dress from the movie Ever After. I’d bet good money that this Waterhouse painting was the costume designer’s inspiration.
Details of Elphaba’s Act II dress from Wicked: The skirt is multi-colored, multi-layered, and multi-textured (it’s also the reason I nearly fell out of my crappy balcony seat and stabbed my eyes out with my theatre binocular, but one of the most interesting details in her hat. I’d never noticed it before but it has a snake or lizard skin patten which gives it a unique leathery look. I love that Susan Hilferty cares enough to put this amount of detail into her costuming.
The fabulous Surrealist design for the Addams Family graveyard from the 1991 movie. The graveyard is placed just off the main mouse in one of the side lawns and features many heavy sculptures of deceased Addams family-members with minimal detailing centered around a large masolueum.
